PICOS has the mission to investigate mobile communities and their services. Especially regarding aspects like privacy and identity management as well as technical and economical aspects.
The research group's main task within the consortium is to ensure that the PICOS platform architecture and design achievements, as well as the prototypes developments of the project are accurate and consistent with the trust and privacy technical objectives planned. A series of evaluations will help to detect non-conformances that may occur during the lifetime of PICOS, which could lead to unexpected consequences. The implementation of proactive measures anticipate potential problems at different stages of the project and verify as well as validate the correct outcome of the results.
Phase 1: A systematic analysis of stakeholders, terminology and taxonomy of on-line communities with particular focus on trust, privacy and personal information. Phase 2: Definition of a framework for trust and privacy in on-line communities, definition and elaboration of requirements and definition of the trial plan for the community trials. Phase 3.1 & 3.2: Development & construction of the PICOS platform prototype, the community applications prototypes and their evaluation using trials. Phase 4: Finalizing of the PICOS platform, documentation, exploitation planning
PICOS will develop a platform that demonstrates to representatives from governments, businesses and end-users in Europe how trust, security and privacy-respecting identity management can efficiently and effectively be implemented into on-line communities that handle personalized data.
